The Finnish Prayer Breakfast took place on 17 March in Helsinki, around the theme "Confidence Towards the Future- Renewal of a Nation".
The idea of political prayer breakfasts all over the world is based on Jesus' example of inviting his disciples to breakfast after His resurrection, reconciling with Peter and continuing to teach them. The idea of fellowship with others and with Jesus is central to prayer breakfasts and it is a manifestation of the politicians' commitment to put in practice Jesus' teachings about love and peace.
ECPM Director for European Affairs- Leo van Doesburg- represented ECPM at the breakfast and the dinner preceding it and he spoke about the collaboration between our party and the Finnish Christian Democrats (KD) and about the importance of following Jesus' principles in the political arena. Especially in the context of the former KD Minister of Internal Affairs who is being sued for her personal convictions on marriage, sexuality and family.
Much of the focus of the meeting was afforded to Russia's war against Ukraine, the situation of the refugees and the larger implications for Europe. The Ukrainian ambassador in Finland spoke at the event.
