It is already more than 2 years ago when 3 million Romanian citizens requested a referendum to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. But after the last vote in the Romanian senate on 11 September where 107 voted in favour, 13 against and 3 abstained and the approval of the Romanian Constitutional Court, the road is free to organize the referendum. Last Tuesday, the Romanian government decided to established the dates for the referendum on the 6th and 7th of October.
Adrian Merka, President of ECPM Member the Democratic Union of Slovaks and Czechs and Slovaks in Romania was pleased with the result “we welcome the decision because we are in favour of traditional families. The family consisting of father, mother and child is a foundation for our society”.
