The Political Situation in Belarus within the European Context

The three-day event was organized in Warsaw, Poland in collaboration with SGP Netherlands and BCD- Belarusian Christian Democrats.

The focus of the workshops and speeches was on the pressure and retaliation of the protestors in Belarus and possibilities for supporting them from the outside. A large number of Belarusians are forced to live in exile now in neighboring countries like Lithuania, Ukraine or Poland. In addition, the speakers looked at the political and diplomatic pressure attempted by the European Union. Sanctions have been imposed by the European Union on the Lukashenko regime and his proxies but some of the lecturers presented examples of loopholes and schemes the sanctioned people have found to evade the scrutiny.
