Renewing Our Minds- Ambassadors for a Better World
The Forum for Leadership and Reconciliation is inviting participants from EU and non-EU countries to Croatia for a 2-week event where through storytelling, workshops and other social activities, they will work together at dismantling prejudice, stigma and discrimination and towards reconciliation.
The Southeast Europe and the Balkans area are affected by high unemployment, corruption, brain drain, ethnic and religious conflict, and hopelessness. At the root of these problems is an 'us vs. them' mentality which leads to hatred, and discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, sex, disability, religion, socio-economic status, and more.
At ROM the organizers counter this mentality with an emphasis on the importance of recognizing and affirming the dignity and value in others, even those completely different from us. They believe that the most effective way to do this is by hearing other's stories, which allows people to see each other as humans and to understand each other.
ROM aims to encourage and equip participants to think about how they can be agents of change or Ambassadors for a Better World on a local, national, and international level; whether that be by transforming individuals, changing their worldview, and reaching them through NGOs, personal relationships, or community initiatives or as a teacher, doctor, lawyer, or other professional in their community.
Register by sending an email to: Bojan Ruvarac at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hurry, places are limited!
If you would like to help sponsor a participant, the cost of food and accommodation for one participant for one day is 35 euros, however gifts of any size are welcome and appreciated! You can donate online here.
