Tuesday, April 9, 2024 18:00 - Tuesday, April 9, 2024 20:00
You are invited to join a timely and sober discussion on the situation in Hungary and Orban's regime attempts to weaken institutions and undermine democracy. The rule of law in Hungary is under serious threat and oftentimes that is being masked by populist rhetoric and invoking victimhood.
Prof. Dr. Peter Rona, respected academic teaching at Oxford University, will provide an assessment and analysis of the current economic situation in Hungary in particular and how the EU's withholding of recovery funds as leverage against Orban is hurting citizens and it is being used as a propaganda tool. He will speak about possible solutions and ways the European and global community can support and foster democracy in Hungary.
MEP Márton Gyöngyösi will speak about his party's- Jobbik Conservatives- position on this, the challenges they face at national level and about their proposals for citizens in the upcoming European elections.
The event will take place on 9 April 2024, from 18:00 at Thon Hotel (Rue de la Loi 75), Brussels and will be followed by a buffet dinner.
Entrance is free, but please confirm your participation before 2 April at: arus@ecpm.info.
