The European Christian Political Movement is deeply shocked by the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in east Ukraine. "It is a terrible incident and I send my heart-felt condolences on behalf of the ECPM to the families and friends of the victims of this tragedy”, George Rukhadze ECPM Vice-President said.
According to him, It is crucial that there is a full and objective international investigation as quickly as possible, and if, as seems possible, the plane was brought down, then those responsible must be brought to justice. “All concerned should support an immediate cease-fire in order to ensure safe access to the crash site for international investigators and to facilitate the recovery of remains", Rukhadze said.
As yet not all the facts are known, it is clear that the incident occurred in the context of the crisis in Ukraine. This incident highlights the urgency with which we continue to urge all parties to immediately take concrete steps to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine and support a sustainable cease-fire and peace plan that the Ukrainian government has put forward.
Once again, the ECPM is seriously concerned over this appalling incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones in this tragedy.
